Cheap Monday - The Queen of Skinny Jeans!

I know that EVERYONE seems to be loving skinny jeans at the moment, and they can seem a little bit EMO - but my black skinny jeans by Cheap Monday have an amazing fit and best of all only cost £40! I love their website, such an artistic way to show off their product. Read all about their creator below - Orjann Anderrson - who has successfully bought together style, fit and affordability - no mean feat! Plus, what an amazing logo! Their jeans are available from Urban Outfitters in the U.K.

Swedish Design...

Another fab Swedish design company - Perry, come on! - showcases its looks through beautiful photography. I particularly love the style of the outfit on the right below. A beautifully puffed tulip skirt, complimented by a stunning but simple jacket - style genius. Here's a little blurb from their website:

Daisy Lowe

Daisy Lowe truly has the makings of a future fashion icon. She has amazing genetic heritage - daughter of designer Pearl Lowe and Gavin Rossdale (Bush frontman and Mr. Gwen Stefani). Her look is edgy and very stylised - she was recently signed by New York Models Management. Watch this space for more news on Daisy.

Tönt - Swedish Innovation

Tönt is an amazing Swedish design company. Apart from designing stunning clothes, they have also created an innovative, quirky website.

I love the mannequin magazine cut-out style (I have no idea what this style is actually called! I remember as a child having a magazine with an image and cut out clothes that you could glue on to the image to create a look). It enables the designers to show you material swatches and truly showcase their looks. I will let you know when I get any more information about stockists - my Swedish isn't that great!

American Apparel - February Featured Styles

Please do NOT worry. I'm not becoming obsessed with American Apparel...but once again I felt the need to show you their great Featured Styles section. This month they are showcasing their acrylic leggings and once again illustrate how great styling can sell a product. (I'm particuarly loving the ankle boots!)

3.1. Phillip Lim

3.1 Phillip Lim is a fabulous range by a true rising star in the design world. I love the grundgy chic of the three looks above and particularly adore the attention to detail in the accessories.

Here Lim provides us with his white palette. These stunning looks are taken to a new level when you see the fine detail added to the back of each outfit. I love the ethos behind Lim's designs:

Phillip Lim's raison d'être is making beautiful clothes with added touches of madness, striving towards the imperfection. the result is a collection of individual looks that are unexpected, unplanned, but completely relevant.
The word imperfection sums up what I love about his designs. It's not about everything matching, it's not about being pristine, it's about creating a look that you feel comfortable in and demonstrates who you are. (Although these beautiful white dresses and playsuit almost attain perfection for me!)

Eksempel - Exemplary Danish Design

Northern European fashion is truly underated - on a global scale. I love the designs by Exsempel and I love the ethos behind their designs;

Ek’sem|pel [I´ksmbl]: Danish word for example,
definition: a single case that illustrates the character as a whole.

“I see the body as an unified whole and the moving body is my inspiration. This is why my designs are made to complement it and why I name it EKSEMPEL...”
(Pernille Winther, Designer)

The philosophy and perception of the body is the basis for the designs. The designs are based on lines and shapes that relate to the whole body, often without a front- and backpiece. Instead, they are designed to cling around the body in an elegant and subtle way so that both clothes and body appear sophisiticated and yet relaxed.

The styles are so slouchy...so relaxed and casual...yet very structured. These winter coats have that quirky edge that all winter coats need; they'll be wardrobe staples for years to come. Check out the Exsempel website for international stockists.

Pocket Details

I'm loving all the great pocket details in the Spring/Summer collections. I recently bought this grey jumper by All Saints from ASOS. I love its slouchy look and great fluoro yellow piping detail but I think the pockets add that original, finishing touch. Topshop have also created tonnes of fab tops, with that all important quirky pocket detail (left).

Selma Blair - Individuality at its Best.

There aren't many people that could pull off Selma's look - undercut/shaved, asymmetric, hair. I love the fact that in an industry dominated by perma-tanned style clones, Selma has taken a real risk. Despite being criticised by many - I think Selma looks great. She's edgy, cool and has made a style choice that many American actresses would steer clear of (but Europeans would embrace). I read a post last week saying, "lets all pray that she's only done this for a role in a dodgy 80s film/futuristic drama" - I'm just hoping she's done this to be different. (I'm loving her oversized cardigan too - not many could look that good at the supermarket)

I don't know why it all seems so aspirational to me!

Clara Collins - Stylish Website

Clara Collins is a beautiful French design company. Their website is a revelation, several picture books with stunning photography, showcasing their looks. Through fab photography and gorgeous clothes, Clara Collins has really drawn me in. When I find out any more information about the company, I'll let you know.

Vivienne Westwood - Anglomania Range

I love the Anglomania range by Vivienne Westwood. I love the shape and form of Westwood's designs but sometimes find them a little too flamboyant...and definitely too pricey. This Anglomania range epitomises its name...Westwood's form and structure with a subtle English twist...at a much more affordable price. I love this classic white Monday Cotton blouse, available from Net-a-Porter - it has that signature, flattering bodice shape, for £130. The wonderfully named Apron Fish Dress! has that indescribable loose, fitted look - with a beautiful print - a piece of Vivienne Westwood for £185.
