Something new this way comes...

There haven't been any posts over the last few days as I am busy working on a new site. Myself and Mr. Things of Random Coolness, have been working diligently to produce something which, I hope, will be rather special. So, keep checking, as this week the new site will launch.

My Wishlist...does the credit card need an airing?!!

It's the perennial problem...when I have no money, lots of fripperies catch my eye! I am too magpie like for my own good! So to ease my tension and stress over my lack of funds, I have decided to compile a small wish list to exorcise my woe! (Click on above picture to enlarge)

1. Cheap Monday dark, used-wash, skinny jeans from Urban Outifitters.
They do exactly what is says on the tin - they are cheap (£40) and have a great skinny fit.
2. Oversized navy patent clutch from Topshop.
I have been seeking an extra-large clutch for a few weeks now and this one fits the bill perfectly.
3. Exaggerated art-deco pendant from Urban Outfitters.
A complete bargain at only £4 and suits my colour mood of black and gold.
4. Vintage tulip tube dress, also by Urban Outfitters.
I adore the colour, azure blue suits my skin-tone beautifully (transparent alabaster at this time of year...mmm, not so attractive!)
5. Thin gold plait belt, also by Urban Outfitters.
Great for making a loose black dress into an empire line wonder.
6. Ball clip, cross-body bag from Topshop.
Cross body is the new clutch (can't believe I just wrote that!!), plus it would be a great accompaniment to the azure blue dress.

All together we are looking at £150ish...which I think is pretty good for such a versatile bag of goodies. My bank balance however, would not agree! I know £150 isn't exorbitant, especially compared to a designer bag but Christmas and the new year have hurt my chip-and-pin and it would like a rest. Does an old, unused, credit card deserve and airing? We'll have to wait and see!

Random Fashion Coolness celebrates a birthday!

Today marks 1 year since the creation of Random Fashion Coolness. I have loved every minute of posting and would like to thank all my avid readers for remaining so loyal. Thank you too for all you kind comments and suggestions, they really are very much appreciated. I think one year on, it is time for a small aesthetic make-over...so watch this space, as Random Fashion Coolness begins to transform.

Gucci cruise ad campaign...it makes me want to run away to the sun.

Gucci's cruise campaign for 2008 evokes many feelings of nostalgia. It has a definitive 70's vibe to its photography, a real sense of "hommage" to Sophia Lauren with California gold added into the mix. It makes me want to run to the sun, which I feel compelled to do tomorrow! I'm off to España to ring in the New Year with a little touch of heat and a lack of rain. I shall resume posting in January and my resolution more postage! ¡Feliz Año Nuevo a Todos!

I've been hiding...

I've been on my travels, popping to some gigs, museum visiting and catching up with friends. My highlights have to be another astounding Interpol gig, this time in Alexandra Palace and an amazingly intimate Sia gig on the good ship Thekla in Bristol's Mud Dock. Thekla Social is an old Baltic coaster ship, converted by an eccentric musician to provide a truly unique music venue. I've extolled the virtues of Interpol here, Sia is yet to feature on Random Fashion Coolness but she definitely deserves a mention. Sia is famous for her collaborations with Zero 7 but her solo work is truly outstanding and her voice a piece of true joy. The set design was also amazing, a totally kitsch explosion of colour. Hear and see more here.

I am off to be a moll...

...at a fancy dress party in Scotland! Posting will resume next week on my return. I've borrowed a vintage dress from a friend, which is soooo beautiful. If there are any half-decent photographic examples, I shall post them for your viewing pleasure!

¡Ya he vuelto! - awe inspiring Barcelona.

Barcelona was beautiful. I saw the sity by bici and foot and now my bones feel as if they are made of dust! (Click on any of the images above to enlarge) Let the posting recommence...

No excuses...life got in the way!

Posts have been extremely "light" of late. I have been having a lot of selfish me time, including visits to zoos, gigs, taking beachy walks, shop and partaking in some countryside enjoyment! I went to see the very fashionably cool Interpol, in the Carling Academy Birmingham; staying in the capsule hotel Nite Nite (check out the link, it really is that little!). The gig was pretty incredible, see my Flikr photos here. So, selfish phase over...blogging can begin!

I am back...apologies for the almost non-existent posting!

I'm back from my travels around Andalucia, even popped over to N.Africa for a quick Moroccan visit. I know I promised posts while I was away but I found out that WiFi blogging is truly difficult. I would upload an image, then my connection would go down...too frustrating! So let the posting re-begin...

Little bit if me time...off on my travels!

There won't be any post for a little while as Mr. Things of Random Coolness and I are hiring a Smart Car and travelling around Spain and France. We'll be away for a few weeks but hopefully I'll be able to WiFi post when we settle somewhere for more than one night. I should have plenty of Random Fashion Coolness for you all, as we are hoping to take in most of the major cities. Will keep you all informed. Bye for now. R x

The Simpsons do High Fashion...genius!

Harper's Bazaar have just featured one of the most inventive fashion spreads I have seen for quite some time. The Simpsons go to Paris with Linda Evangelista and are dressed by several designers. The genius element - the clothes are actually part of the current collections in cartoon form! Feast your eyes on Matt Groening's fashionable delights! (Click on the images below to enlarge). Thanks to Dlisted for the scans.

Apologies for the lack of posts!

Just a quick apology. I know the posts have been very infrequent recently and I just wanted to explain why: a. I have been crazy busy at work, b. I have been poisoned by some FOOOOD! I am on the way to recovery now, so the posting shall begin again!

Thinking of Paris...Du Petit Moulin et Christian Lacroix.

When we stay in Paris, we invariably end up in L'Hôtel du Petit Moulin in Le Marais. A truly amazing boutique hotel; a refurbished boulangerie with individually designed rooms, by the Christian Lacroix. The last time we were there, I ordered a coffee which came in a stunningly detailed coffee set, also designed by Lacroix. Beautiful fashion dolls, poupées, adorn each piece...very fashionably cool, I'm sure you'll agree. To see more photos of the very stylish hotel, go to my Flickr account or if you get the chance book a room in this gem of a hotel.

No posts for a few days...

Just to let you avid readers and visitors know, there will be no posts for a few days as I'm away for a few days in the Northampton countryside, in one of these...

...an Austin Healey Bug-eyed Sprite. Hopefully, I'll be back on Thursday, in one piece!

Fallas in Valencia - No posts til Monday...Sorry!

I'm off to Valencia for the weekend, so no posts until next week. I'm going to meet up with some friends and see the amazing Fallas festival. Fallas is a true spectacle that fills Valencia with papier-mâché caricatures, that take one year to create and are then burned in the culmination of the festival, the "crema", this Sunday. Everyday of Fallas week there is a "mascleta", a daytime fireworks display that is a celebration of noise rather than light (see below). Find out more about Fallas here. More posts Monday.

Skiing was fab...

...great powder, fantastic weather. Lake Tahoe had some amazing snowfalls and some of the best skiing.

San Francisco was its usually wonderful, quirky self...with 20C temps...in February!!

I'll be posting again tomorrow, once the jetlag wears off! (Obviously this photo isn't of me...but we can all dream!)

No posts for a little while...sorry!

I'm off to California, skiing in Lake Tahoe for a week - so no posts until at least the 24th of February. I'll be spending a few days in San Francisco too, looking out for some blog material - so keep checking back.
